Isaac's classroom has a tool bench with a bunch of toy tools and the kids don't get to play with them that often.  They are sitting right by the door so everyday on his way out of the classroom Isaac asks me if he can play with tools (and the answer is always no because school is over).  Today he was so sad he couldn't play tools and asked me "Mama, pwease get me a dwill pwease?  Pwwweeeeaaasssseeee???"  So I thought about it and told him he could earn money by being good and then we would go buy a drill.  The second we got home he ran to his piggy bank and told me to get his money so he could buy a drill.  K, so I know I am a huge sucker but we ended up at Toys R Us and Isaac is the now the very proud owner of his first power tool.

End of the day and there was nothing that exciting to take a photo of.  I did a lot of cleaning today, including the stove.  I kind of hate cleaning my house and don't keep up on it as well as I should.  The stove is one of my least favorites to clean because I feel like no matter how much I scrub those burners I can never get them completely clean.  Does anyone have any good stove cleaning tips for me?

Charlie mentioned a few weeks ago that he was going to make this ice cream dessert for Mother's Day and I have not been able to stop thinking about it since!  I'll just go ahead and blame that on pregnancy, but the dessert is really fantastic.  It's a Wood family recipe with a crushed Oreo crust, ice cream, and hot fudge topping.  Yum.

We went to another Angel's game tonight.  Isaac was still disappointed that we were going to see baseball and not monster trucks. (He watched Monster Jam on TV and recognized the big "A" from Angel's stadium so now he keeps telling us he wants to go to the baseball game to watch monster trucks.)  He doesn't follow the game, but he gets excited when they shoot off fireworks for a home run (there was only one tonight) and when they show the rally monkey on the big screen and play the "Jump Around" song - and of course he jumps around.

This isn't such a great photo, but it will have to do.  Charlie was in Mexico City for work so Isaac and I went to Rubio's for dinner.  I usually order nachos and Isaac always gets a bean & cheese burrito.  Tonight I got a burrito too and I poured salsa over the top of it, enchilada style.  I guess Isaac thought that looked like fun so he dumped sauce all over his too.  And then he didn't want to eat it anymore because it had too much sauce on it.

This morning a big flat bed truck came and delivered all of this wood to our parking lot.  I talked to one of the guys to ask what they were doing and he informed me that they were going to be putting a new fence in our backyard.  This is great news because I think our current fence is about 30 years old and is completely falling apart.  Isaac is just really excited about the little forklift that is sitting in the parking lot next to all of the wood.

I forgot to take a picture today.  These are the registration forms for the hospital.  Isaac was born at Irvine Regional, but it no longer exists so I have to choose between Saddleback and Mission Viejo this time.  Saddleback wins because it's closer.  I'm kind of sad that this baby will have Laguna Hills on his birth certificate rather than Irvine.

Today is Cracker's 8th birthday.  We celebrated tonight by having chili cheese hot dogs for dinner.  I think he's feeling a little sick now, but he sure did enjoy it!  I'm actually feeling a little sick too, which is why we only eat chili cheese dogs once a year.

Isaac has a book about a "Sand Castle Bash" where a bunch of trucks build sand castles and then knock them all down.  He had been asking for days to go to the beach and build sand castles.  This afternoon we drove down to Newport and spent a few hours at the beach.  It was a beautiful day!  It was warm with a nice breeze, super clear, and not very crowded.  We built sand castles & knocked them down, dug tunnels, waded in the surf, caught sand crabs, and watched dolphins and boats out in the water.

So I'm a third of the way through the year and somedays I just really can't think of anything very interesting to take a photo of.  Charlie brought me home this mandolin slicer from Zyliss (his new company) a few weeks ago.  I don't know why I went so many years without one of these.  It makes this potato gratin recipe SO much easier.  And it also came in handy on easter Sunday when I was slicing 4 lbs of kiwis for fruit salad.
